Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring an Associate's Degree in respiratory care and RRT certification.
Details
- Position within a hospital-based Respiratory Therapy department
- Provides invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilator support for acute respiratory failure
- Performs diagnostic testing including pulmonary function tests, blood gas analysis, and oximetry studies
- Night shift schedule, 1730-0600
- 36 hours per week, 3 days per week, 12-hour shifts
- 13-week assignment length
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in respiratory care required; Bachelor's degree preferred
- RRT certification through the National Board for Respiratory Care
- Respiratory therapy certification or license through the applicable state board required if applicable
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- NRP certification required for candidates working with neonatal population
- No prior experience required
- Skills in invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, medicated and non-medicated therapy, arterial puncture, airway management, and patient assessment
Additional Information
- Responds to emergency situations including code blue and rapid response calls
- Assists with advanced specialty procedures such as endotracheal tube insertion, arterial line placement, and bronchoscopy
- Provides therapeutic procedures such as chest physiotherapy and positive expiratory pressure therapy
- Performs diagnostic procedures including pulmonary function testing, neurodiagnostic studies, and cardiac testing for specially trained therapists
- Documents patient assessments and communicates with care teams for shift reports and care transitions
- Participates in departmental quality improvement, risk, and safety initiatives
- Attends departmental meetings, huddles, and in-services
- Maintains and prepares respiratory equipment such as ventilators and gas delivery devices
