Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 12-hour night shift contract requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Med/Surg Overflow unit within a 457-bed Level 3 Trauma facility that is also a Stroke and Bariatric Center of Excellence and Chest Pain Center
- Average daily census of 51 patients with chronic disease, CHF, mental health/addiction, COPD, DM, wound, and geriatric care populations
- RN to patient ratio of 1:4-6, with surge times increasing to 1:7-8, and CNA ratio of 1:7
- 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700) at 36 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle
- Weekend rotation required every other weekend
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Uses EPIC EMR
- Unit equipment includes scales, GBS machine, transfer device, vein finder, EKG, crash cart, telemedicine cart, and doppler
- Floating required within Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH-peds only) based on staffing needs
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
- Skills required include cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), tube/drain care, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Provide Med/Surg Tele nursing care with support from Nurse Manager, Administrative Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor, staff RNs, CNAs, Clinical Mentor, Rapid Response RN, and House Supervisor
- Travelers will be first to float and are expected to demonstrate clinical flexibility across units, including MedSurg assignments in ICU or MedSurg holds in ED
- Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
- Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall added to the end of the contract
- Navy blue scrub color required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position before returning
