Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stepdown/Acuity Adaptable Unit position requiring telemetry skills and ICU or IMC/PCU background.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting on an Acuity Adaptable Unit (AAU) functioning as a Stepdown/ICU hybrid
- 18-bed unit with varying ratios: ICU level of care at 2:1 and IMC level of care at 3-4:1
- Cares for cardiac, stroke, respiratory failure, DKA, and sepsis patients
- RNs required to titrate drips
- Uses EPIC EMR
- Central monitoring station with Phillips telemetry monitors; RNs must be able to analyze rhythms
- RT-managed vent, CPAP, BiPap, and high flow equipment on unit with RN oral care and troubleshooting responsibilities
- Charge nurse is ICU trained and serves as rapid response nurse, typically supernumerary
- PCT support available, generally 1 per shift for vitals, I/Os, transfers, meals, and call lights
- Hospitalist in house 24/7 and RT assigned to the unit every shift
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts, self-scheduling with block scheduling accommodated
- Weekend requirement of 3-4 twelve-hour shifts within a 4-week period
- No call or standby requirement
- Potential to float to med/surg or inpatient rehab within the hospital
Requirements
- Active RN license (IN state or compact) currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA)
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
- ICU or IMC/PCU stepdown experience accepted
- Telemetry experience required
- BSN not required for this position
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on an Acuity Adaptable Unit spanning ICU and stepdown levels of care
- Two shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
- Holiday coverage required for two summer holidays (Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day) and two winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
- Navy scrub color required
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be considered for travel rate; local rate available within 50-100 miles
