Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring prior travel experience and proficiency in Epic.

Details

  • 28-bed elective surgery and Level III trauma unit specializing in post-operative care for ortho, spinal, bariatric, and colorectal surgery patients
  • Unit also cares for Level III trauma patients and accepts Medical-Surgical overflow as census allows
  • Capable of monitoring up to 8 telemetry patients
  • Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
  • Typical patient ratio is 1:7, occasionally flexing from a budgeted 1:5
  • Every other weekend, floating, and holiday coverage required within contract dates
  • Overtime paid after 48 hours for 4x12 schedules
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active VA or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association required
  • Minimum of two years recent relevant experience required
  • Previous travel experience required
  • Proficiency in Epic charting system required
  • No history of license or background hits permitted
  • Must pass facility EKG/telemetry competency test with 80% or higher, no remediation offered
  • Fit testing must be successfully completed; PAPR cannot be accommodated
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide post-operative care for ortho, spinal, bariatric, and colorectal surgery patients along with occasional trauma and med-surg overflow cases
  • Perform telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and cardiac drip management (no titration)
  • Skilled care may include wound vac management, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, and non-invasive airway support
  • Completion of 3 hours of pre-start clinical modules required
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered for this travel RN position
  • Local candidates within 50 miles will not be considered for RN roles
  • Two professional references required for consideration
  • Longer assignment extensions through January 2027 available but not required, with a requirement to work two of three winter holidays if extended
