Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Oncology RN with ONS chemotherapy/biotherapy certification for a Med/Surg Chemo unit position requiring at least one year of oncology nursing experience.
Details
- Short-term acute care hospital setting on an Oncology Chemo Certified Med/Surg unit
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM–7:00 PM)
- Block schedule required with every other weekend
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Floating between units and sister facilities may be required based on skill set
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active RN license (compact license must be in hand at time of submission)
- BLS certification required
- ONS/ONCC chemotherapy/biotherapy certification required
- Minimum of 1 year of recent oncology nursing experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience with Autologous Stem Cell Transplant and CAR-T therapy patients preferred
- Must have a personal vehicle for this assignment
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include administration and monitoring of chemotherapy via IV, oral, and continuous infusion routes
- Manage oncologic emergencies including tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression
- Provide care for central lines, implanted ports, and chest tubes
- Implement neutropenic precautions and manage symptoms such as nausea, neuropathy, dysphagia, and altered mental status
- Administer blood and blood product transfusions
- Scrubs may be any color
- No parking fee at this facility
- Candidates who previously worked at this health system as permanent staff may return after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside outside a 50-mile radius
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this position
