Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced OR RN with a strong Neuro/ENT background for an evening shift circulator/scrub role at a Level III Trauma Center.

Details

  • Surgery Room/Main OR setting at a Level III Trauma Center with a Level III NICU and Primary Stroke Center
  • Magnet-designated facility with 636 beds and 21 OR beds
  • 8-hour evening shift, scheduled 1100-1930, 40 hours per week
  • Patient ratio of 1:1
  • Cases include Neuro/ENT spine surgeries (laminectomies, ALIFs, fusions, discectomies), cranial surgeries (tumors, VP shunts, subdurals, EVDs), and ENT procedures (neck dissections, sinus surgery, tonsillectomy, tympanoplasty)
  • Additional exposure to orthopedic cases (fractures, hip and total joint replacements, ortho spine, hand/podiatry) and general surgery cases (breast/plastics, vascular, laparoscopic, oncology, GU, GYN, robotics)
  • Uses Medtronic, Medtronic Stealth, Stryker, and Synaptive navigation systems, plus Hanna Table for ortho cases
  • Charting via Epic; also uses Alaris and Pyxis systems
  • Cross-training required to General Main OR specialty and Urology center; no floating to other hospitals or sites
  • On-call required with 30-minute response time on an 8-week rotating call schedule, including weekend call slots
  • Weekend call rotation covers Friday-Monday day and night shifts, 1-2 weekends per 8-week cycle
  • Holiday weeks require working 4 (10hr) shifts or taking the holiday unpaid
  • Support provided by Charge Nurses, Team Leads, Supervisors, and Manager
  • Orientation length is approximately 1-1.5 weeks depending on team and shift assignment

Requirements

  • Active WI or Compact RN license required
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience required, including recent experience within the specialty area within the last year
  • Strong background in Neuro/ENT procedures required; circulator experience with scrubbing recommended
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Robotics (Xi) training only provided to candidates with a strong existing background who commit to more than one contract
  • Candidate's middle name or initial required for consideration
  • Candidate date of birth and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
  • Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the last year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • Circulate and/or scrub for a high-acuity mix of Neuro/ENT, orthopedic, and general surgical cases
  • Surgical scrubs are provided by the hospital; scrub caps allowed but must be covered by a surgical bouffant
  • Free parking available with shuttle service to and from the parking structure
  • On-campus dining options include Starbucks and a cafeteria
  • No call rooms available on site
  • First-time travelers are not recommended for this position and would require further approval from the hiring supervisor
  • Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible for a travel assignment
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
