Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring 2+ years of CVICU experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• 20-bed, all-private, all-monitored Level 1 trauma Cardiovascular ICU in an acute care hospital setting
• Patient population includes post open heart surgical patients (CABG, valves, dissections, AAA, vascular/carotid procedures), STEMI, unstable angina, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, TAVRs, and ventilated ICU overflow patients
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 2:1 depending on acuity
• Utilizes specialty equipment including IABPs, Impellas, Swan Ganz catheters, ECMO, external pacemakers, and CRRT
• Manages PICC, midline, CVC, Swan, and arterial (radial/femoral) lines
• EPIC EMR used for charting
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a)
• Every other weekend (Friday/Saturday for nights) and every other holiday required
• Floats to all levels of care and expected to take a full patient team
• Charge nurses and house supervisors available 24/7, along with CV/CCS APNs, PAs, and respiratory therapists

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS (AHA) certification required; ACLS preferred and CCRN a plus
• Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU experience required
• Must be able to interpret cardiac strips and titrate multiple drips (e.g., dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, propofol, heparin) per protocol or order
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and time management skills required to function independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Experience with ventilators, CPAP, BPAP, and high-flow oxygen equipment required

Additional Information

• Provide direct bedside care to complex post-surgical and cardiac ICU patients, often managing multiple specialty devices per patient
• Work alongside PCTs (ratios 1:12-1:15), monitor techs, and 24/7 respiratory therapy support
• No particular scrub color required, but attire must be neat, clean, and appropriately fitted; scrubs not provided
• COVID vaccination is not required for consideration
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for local rates with no radius restriction on eligibility
