Description

American Traveler is hiring a night-shift RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring Level I trauma and ICU experience with active ACLS and BLS certifications.

Details

• 13-week assignment in a Surgical ICU (SICU) within an acute care hospital setting
• 13-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:2, ranging from 1:1 to 1:3
• Patient population includes post-surgical, open abdomen, multi-system trauma, and endovascular cases
• RNs are required to titrate drips including pressors, sedation, paralytics, and insulin
• Nurses are responsible for reading and interpreting their own telemetry strips
• Charge nurse and 24/7 house supervisor available on each shift
• Nurse aides/patient care techs present at a 1:10 ratio
• Intensivist coverage in house from approximately 0700-1900 with telemedicine and on-call attending support overnight
• Respiratory Therapy (RT) in ICU 24/7 with vent, CPAP, and BiPAP equipment
• EPIC EMR used for charting
• 12-hour night shifts scheduled 7pm-7:30am
• Weekend requirement of 6 shifts within a 6-week period
• Holiday coverage required every other holiday
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating required, with float assignments adjusted for lower level of care units (3 patients on Stepdown or 5-6 patients in general medicine)

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Level I trauma center experience required
• ICU experience required
• EPIC EMR experience preferred

Additional Information

• Unit-specific orientation includes 8 hours learning EPIC and systems, 8 hours with an educator, 4-hour shadow shift, and 12 hours with a preceptor on the unit
• No specific scrub color or dress code required
• COVID vaccination is not required for consideration
• No radius rule for eligibility; reduced local rate applies to candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility
