Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Level III NICU position requiring NRP certification and experience with neonates as young as 22 weeks gestation.
Details
- Level III NICU setting caring for neonates from 22 weeks gestation and above
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Patient ratio of 1:2-3
- Uses EPIC for documentation and Pyxis for medication administration
- Manages neonates with respiratory distress, glucose management issues, and those requiring surgical or cardiac interventions
- Oversees ventilator management including AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP settings
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of NICU experience required
- Prior experience in NICU Level III and Level IV settings required
- Competency in cardiovascular dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
- Proficient in gastrointestinal feeding methods and oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tube management
- Experience with IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, UAC, and UVC required
- Experience with neonatal abstinence syndrome interventions required
- Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role and no coworker references accepted
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive care to neonates including respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and infectious disease management
- Administer IV vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids
- Utilize SBAR communication method for interaction with healthcare providers and families
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including NP, interpretation services, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, respiratory services, social services, and unit secretary
- Maintain infection control measures including isolation precautions and PPE
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
- Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at any Ohio State University hospital location
- RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
- Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon contract signing due to strict credentialing timelines
- First-time travelers are not being considered for this position
