Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Level III NICU position requiring 2 years of Level III NICU experience and a CO or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the largest Level III NICU in metro Denver, a 55-bed unit with delivery services
  • Specializes in micro preemies less than 28 weeks, caring for neonates from 22 weeks to post term
  • Majority of patients come from the hospital's high-risk delivery service
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30), various days of the week
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Average daily census of 48
  • Charting completed in Epic
  • Potential to float to the Mother Baby Unit, caring only for infants, and possibly to sister facilities based on need
  • Call requirement of one 12-hour shift every 6 weeks
  • Weekend requirement of 6 to 8 weekend shifts (Fri/Sat/Sun) within a 6-week period

Requirements

  • Active RN license (CO or Compact) required
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of Level III NICU experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, and administration of blood/blood products
  • Experience with UAC/UVC placement and management
  • Proficient in neonatal medication administration including anti-seizure meds, antibiotics, vasopressors, and steroids
  • Experience with respiratory support including CPAP, HFNC, high frequency ventilation, oscillators, and ventilator management
  • Skilled in neonatal dosage calculations and conscious sedation
  • Experience with phototherapy, blood glucose monitoring, and thermoregulation
  • Knowledge of neonatal abstinence syndrome, NEC, and neonatal sepsis management
  • Experience with feedings (bottle, breast, gavage) and breastfeeding support

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive NICU care including APGAR scoring, developmental care, and patient/family teaching
  • Assist with lumbar punctures and manage isolation precautions/PPE for infectious disease control
  • Navy scrub color required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply as long as they meet the required experience
  • Candidates previously employed by UCHealth or its affiliates must disclose this information for eligibility review
  • Candidates who applied to UCHealth's internal travel jobs or perm staff within the last two years will not be considered
  • Returning travelers who completed a full year on assignment must wait at least one year before rebooking
  • Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with blackout periods restricting RTO during select weeks
  • No blocked scheduling requests permitted
  • Completion of facility-specific modules required within the first week of assignment
  • Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are eligible for the local rate
