Description

American Traveler is hiring a PICU RN for a 12-hour night shift contract at a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, requiring 2 years of high-acuity pediatric ICU experience.

Details

• Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center within a 247-bed teaching hospital
• 24-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with average census of 21-23 patients
• Patient population includes respiratory, trauma (including NAT), DKA, seizures, neurosurgical, renal failure, orthopedic, surgical, transplant (kidney and liver), complex medical, and blood disorder cases
• RN staffing ratios vary by acuity: 2:1, 1:1, or 1:2
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700 or similar), 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation requires working 2 Fridays, 2 Saturdays, 2 Sundays, and 2 Mondays every 6-week schedule
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, or General Peds units as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS and PALS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of strong, high-acuity Pediatric ICU experience required
• Comfortable working in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino ICP/temp monitoring device, and Belmont Rapid Infuser
• Experience managing critical care vasoactive drip titration and invasive lines (ART lines, CVP)
• Proficient in aseptic/sterile technique, dressing changes, ventilator and trach management, and HFOV management
• Experience with oral/nasal suctioning, g-tube/j-tube and feeding tube management, chest tubes, epidurals, and PCAs
• Skilled in sedation/analgesic drip management, Foley insertion, and Alaris/Medfusion pump management
• CRRT experience required
• Comfortable participating in bedside procedures with providers and discharge planning
• Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB for consideration
• At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Provide direct bedside care to critically ill pediatric patients across a wide range of diagnoses
• Supported by a robust care team including CNAs, unit secretaries, 24/7 charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy, intensivists, residents, and APPs
• Centralized and bedside patient monitoring utilized
• Orientation includes NEO and 2 days of departmental training
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays, including the eve and day of every other holiday during the contract
• RTO requests subject to manager approval
• Navy scrub color required
