Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a high-volume, Level II trauma emergency department requiring a CA RN license, night shifts, and prior high-acuity ER experience.
Details
- Level II trauma emergency department with 28 beds, 4 fast track, 2 trauma bays, and hallway beds
- Acute care setting treating trauma, stroke, pediatric, psychiatric, and other emergency patients, averaging 155 patients per day
- Patient ratio of 1 to 4
- Charts using Cerner EMR
- 12-hour night shifts with varied start times between 4p-7p, scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance with self-scheduling by seniority
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage worked into permanent staff rotation
- Call requirement of one day per month, potentially two depending on call team rotation
- No floating required, but will be first to float if needed
- Charge nurse does not take a patient assignment
- EMT nurse aides support the unit each shift including a midshift EMT
- Hospitalist and intensivist coverage available 24/7, along with 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy support
- No IV team on staff
- Telemetry monitoring via GE equipment and ventilator capability available
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of ER specialty experience required
- Experience in a high-volume, high-acuity emergency department required
- Level II trauma experience or higher preferred
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS
- TNCC certification preferred
- COVID vaccine required
- Travel nursing experience preferred
- Must pass a proctored Dysrhythmia test onsite on day one (pass/fail)

- Provide emergency department nursing care across a wide range of patient acuities and diagnoses
- Facility seeking candidates who can help foster a strong teamwork environment within the ER
- Some travelers may be assigned trauma patients depending on experience level
- Unit assignments and scheduling are largely seniority-based
- Navy scrub color required
- Floor-specific orientation consists of 2-3 shifts
- Holiday RTO may be considered but is not guaranteed
- Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment (3 shifts for shorter assignments)
