Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist with Level IV NICU and PICU experience for a Level 1 trauma center specialty unit.

Details

  • Level 1 trauma center acute care setting in a Specialty NICU/PICU respiratory therapy unit
  • Level IV NICU with 40 beds, 8-bed Peds ICU, and 24 Peds beds, plus adult ICU/GF units
  • 12-hour day/night rotating shifts with every other weekend and rotating holidays
  • Weekend-only or straight night status will be considered
  • 36 hours per week
  • Uses Epic EMR for documentation
  • NICU staffed with 2-4 RTs per shift; Peds/PICU staffed with 1-3 RTs per shift, always working alongside a charge therapist
  • Opportunity to pick up extra shifts
  • Potential to float/train to other campus locations (BDWY or SU) if interested

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years recent respiratory therapy experience
  • RRT via NBRC required; CRT considered
  • BLS (AHA), NRP, and PALS (AHA) certifications required
  • ACLS preferred
  • Level IV NICU experience required, including high frequency ventilation (Jet & HFOV), nitric oxide, high-risk deliveries, and gestational ages 22 weeks and above
  • Ventilator experience with micro preemies in a Level IV NICU required
  • PICU experience preferred; adult experience also beneficial
  • ND state license required if applicable, or willingness to apply within 72 hours of offer acceptance
  • Experience with specialized respiratory equipment including Hamilton G5/C1, HFOV, high flow systems, and neonatal ventilators

Additional Information

  • Perform respiratory therapy assessments, arterial punctures, blood gas analysis, ventilator and NIV therapy management, medication delivery, and airway clearance
  • Assist with intubations, extubations, tracheostomy changes, and decannulation
  • Participate in emergency response teams, ICU rounds, and patient intrahospital transport
  • Support high-risk deliveries as part of the care team
  • Complete unit-specific orientation including lab training with RT education staff and preceptor shifts
  • Steel gray scrubs required for Peds/PICU; blue hospital-provided scrubs required for NICU
  • Badge in and out at facility required
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills required in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Candidates with prior Sanford Health employment must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission
  • Local candidates within 80 miles of the facility may be considered at a reduced rate
