Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring BLS and NIHSS certification.
Details
- Med/Surg unit (30 beds) in an acute care hospital setting
- Patient population includes CHF, COPD, cellulitis, R/O, chole, appy, pneumonia, urosepsis, and AKI cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6, up to 1:7
- Charge RN present on the floor in addition to assigned staff
- PCTs available on the unit for support
- RNs required to titrate heparin drips based on aPTT results
- Intermittent BIPAP used; no ventilators on unit
- Telemetry monitored remotely by monitor techs
- EPIC EMR used
- 12-hour day/night rotating shifts with weekends as scheduled (approximately half of total weekends)
- No standby or on-call requirement
- Floating required as needed based on census, with external travelers floated first
- Navy blue scrubs required
Requirements
- Active WV or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Acute care Med/Surg experience required
- Unexpired driver's license copy required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care within a busy Med/Surg unit handling a variety of medical-surgical diagnoses
- Collaborate with charge RN and PCT support staff
- Must disclose any licensing history at time of consideration
- Local candidates within a 50-mile radius will not be considered as travelers
- Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine facility must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
- Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than a year without taking a 2-year break, with cumulative experience applied
- All candidates interview directly with the unit manager
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
