Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night-shift hospital position requiring at least 1 year of recent experience and a NM or compact RN license.

Details

• 32-bed Medical Surgical unit
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (18:30-7:00), with 36 or 48 hour options
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:6
• Rapid response team activation responsibilities
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to like units as needed based on facility needs
• Required to work 6 weekend shifts within a 6 week period
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active NM or compact RN license required (pending compact accepted if obtained prior to start)
• BLS certification required, CPI preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience required
• First time travelers accepted if they have 24 months of nursing experience
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Respiratory care skills including chest tube management, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy care and feeding tube management
• CVA experience preferred
• Medication administration experience with Heparin, insulin, and PCA
• Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE experience
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure, and surgical drains

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical unit including IV therapy, respiratory support, and wound care
• Brief unit orientation provided prior to floating assignments
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• Previous staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• First time travelers are welcome to apply with sufficient nursing experience
