Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN with a CA RN license required, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications, and at least 2 years of ER experience.

Details

• Work in the Emergency Department of an acute care hospital with 189 staffed beds
• Handles a general adult/pediatric ER patient population with a 1:4 patient ratio
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
• Every other weekend required, totaling 12 weekend shifts per contract
• No on-call responsibilities required
• May float to a nearby sister facility
• Any scrub color permitted
• Free parking available

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required (compact license must be in hand at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS (TNCC preferred)
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Experience with 1:4 patient ratios required
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line care, and starting/maintaining IVs required
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, and ABG interpretation preferred
• Experience with continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation monitoring preferred
• Neuro-trauma experience including CVA, ICP monitoring, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury preferred
• Experience in Level I or Level II Trauma Center settings preferred
• Experience with gunshot wounds and traumatic amputation preferred
• Pediatric ER experience including head injury and near drowning preferred
• Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management preferred
• Triage and ortho trauma experience preferred
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care to a combined adult and pediatric patient population
• May float between sister facilities within the region as needed
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• RTO must be submitted and finalized at time of application, with limited flexibility after submission
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
• Candidates residing within 50 miles are subject to local billing rate rules
• Facility does not accept candidates with Nursys or background check hits
