Description
American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for an acute care hospital, requiring CA RN license and 1 year of PACU experience.
Details
- Work in the PACU unit of an acute care hospital
- Covers Pre/Post, Phase I, and Phase II recovery areas with staggered start times between 0600 and 0830
- Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, primarily starting at 8:30am
- Nurses must remain until end of shift as outpatient surgery has no shift relief
- Flexibility in daily schedule and assigned area required
- Floating to sister facilities within the system may be required
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required; pending license accepted
- Minimum 1 year of PACU experience required
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Skilled in airway assessment, IV therapy/phlebotomy, end-tidal CO2 monitoring, and central line care
- Experience with conscious sedation, general, local, and MAC anesthesia types preferred
- Experience with a variety of surgical cases including ENT, GYN, ortho, urology, and vascular
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide pre- and post-operative care including discharge instructions, medication reconciliation, and pre-op assessments
- Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition, and pain assessment/management
- Scrub color is scrubs or business casual
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- RTO limited to no more than 7 days
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to qualify for travel pay rate, though local candidates are accepted at a lower rate
- Former permanent staff may return after a 3-month waiting period and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
