Description

American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for an acute care hospital, requiring CA RN license and 1 year of PACU experience.

Details

• Work in the PACU unit of an acute care hospital
• Covers Pre/Post, Phase I, and Phase II recovery areas with staggered start times between 0600 and 0830
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, primarily starting at 8:30am
• Nurses must remain until end of shift as outpatient surgery has no shift relief
• Flexibility in daily schedule and assigned area required
• Floating to sister facilities within the system may be required

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required; pending license accepted
• Minimum 1 year of PACU experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in airway assessment, IV therapy/phlebotomy, end-tidal CO2 monitoring, and central line care
• Experience with conscious sedation, general, local, and MAC anesthesia types preferred
• Experience with a variety of surgical cases including ENT, GYN, ortho, urology, and vascular
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide pre- and post-operative care including discharge instructions, medication reconciliation, and pre-op assessments
• Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition, and pain assessment/management
• Scrub color is scrubs or business casual
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• RTO limited to no more than 7 days
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to qualify for travel pay rate, though local candidates are accepted at a lower rate
• Former permanent staff may return after a 3-month waiting period and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
