Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring ortho and robotics experience along with prior travel assignment history.
Details
- Acute care Operating Room unit with 9 ORs, 1 procedure room, and 1 hybrid OR
- Handles 35-45 cases per day covering general, ENT, eyes, ortho, robotics (DaVinci and Rosa), neuro spine, trauma, vascular, peds, and emergent cases
- Unit does not cover CVOR or L&D/C-sections
- 12-hour day shifts, 3x per week (F/S/SU, 7A-7:30P)
- Shift start date to fall between 9/28/2026 and 10/5/2026
- Uses Epic EMR
- Floating to outpatient surgery as needed
- Holiday call rotation as needed
- One weeknight on-call shift (7p-7a) with rotation varying, and one weekend 24-hour on-call shift (7a-7p) per month
- 30-minute call response time required, with mandatory on-site stay if living more than 30 minutes away
- Charge nurse/house supervisor on duty 7a-7p; travelers rotate through charge responsibilities
- Overnight shifts staffed with only one RN and two OR techs, requiring broad specialty experience
- Unit staffed almost entirely by travelers; OR techs handle room turnover
Requirements
- Active WV or Compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certification required (PALS preferred)
- 2-3 years of OR specialty experience required
- 2-3 previous travel assignments required
- Ortho experience required
- Experience passing arms in and out for robotic cases required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Comfort working overnight shifts with only one RN and two techs required for those shifts
- Scrubbing ability is a plus but not required
- BSN not required
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care across a wide range of surgical specialties including ortho, robotics, ENT, vascular, trauma, and emergent cases
- Participate in call rotation for weeknights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Unit orientation consists of 3 shifts over 1 week
- Scrubs are provided for RNs and OR techs
- Facility support and service line teaching may be available for candidates willing to learn or refresh a specialty
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
- Previous perm employees must have a 2-year break before returning as travelers
- Previous travelers who completed a full year must take a 2-year break before returning
- Cumulative traveler experience at WVU facilities cannot exceed 1 year without a 2-year break
- Candidates may only be submitted to one WVU facility at a time
