Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring NRP certification and experience floating to Antepartum/MBU units.
Details
- Acute care Level 2 trauma facility with a high-risk L&D unit averaging 950-1000 births yearly
- Unit includes 7 L&D beds, 2 OR suites for C-sections, and 17 postpartum beds
- Follows AWHONN guidelines for staffing ratios
- Cares for high-risk diagnoses including preeclampsia, HELLP syndrome, placenta previa, PTL, and PROM
- LDR RN performs both maternal and neonatal recovery as there is no dedicated NBN RN
- Does not circulate for C-sections but does admit, prep, and provide recovery care in the LDR area
- Titrates drips including insulin and oxytocin
- OB Techs typically staffed one per shift
- OB provider in house 24/7 with MFM on call and neonatologist available if needed
- Anesthesia in house 24/7
- Uses Corometrics EFM system integrated with Cerner/Fetalink
- Cerner EMR used, currently transitioning to Epic
- 12-hour night shifts with every 3rd weekend required, or every other weekend with block scheduling
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- No call or standby requirements
- Floats to serve as a patient sitter throughout the hospital and may float to NICU if trained and comfortable
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
- BLS (AHA) and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required
- Comfortable titrating drips such as insulin and oxytocin
- 2 current professional references required, including 1 from a supervisor and 1 from a peer or supervisor
Additional Information
- Provides direct patient care in a high-risk L&D unit alongside OB techs and physicians
- Charge RN typically does not take an assignment in order to assist with deliveries
- 3 days of orientation provided, including 1 day hospital-specific and 2 days unit-specific
- Purple hospital-provided scrubs required for the unit
- Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local
- Former permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration for this position
