Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring active MO or compact RN license and telemetry experience.

Details

  • PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown work setting within a hospital environment
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
  • Every other weekend requirement
  • Mandatory floating required, including cross-coverage to MS or ICU units and potential Patient Observer (sitter) duties
  • Cerner charting system preferred but not required

Requirements

  • Active MO or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration (no pending licenses)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification required
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of overall RN experience and 1 year in the PCU specialty required
  • Skills in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV therapy, and cardiac drip management preferred
  • Experience with arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, and blood product administration preferred
  • Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilated patient care, and chest tube management preferred
  • Ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs required

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care to progressive care/stepdown patients, including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
  • Required to work rotating shifts, holidays, and during inclement weather as part of a 24/7 healthcare facility
  • Must work at least 50% of holidays occurring during the contract
  • Routine contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for consideration
  • Candidates residing 51-74 miles away may be offered at a local rate
  • Maximum RTO of 10 days permitted, with none allowed during the first week due to orientation
