Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced PACU RN for a 13-week assignment at an academic medical center, requiring 2 years of specialty experience and a compact or LA RN license.
Details
- Work in the PACU unit of an academic medical center
- Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM
- Patient ratio of 1:2, with potential to flex up to 1:4 for overflow patients
- Call required every 3rd weekend, typically scheduled on a volunteer basis, covering 7a-7p or 7p-7a shifts
- Holiday coverage included as part of the call schedule
- Epic charting experience preferred
Requirements
- Active RN license, Compact or LA license required in hand at time of submission
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS required (AHA-issued)
- Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Travel experience required; unit does not accept first-time travelers
- Skilled in airway assessment, ventilated patient care, and various post-anesthesia recovery procedures
- Experience with cardiac, neuro/spine, ortho, ENT, GI, GU, and vascular surgical patient populations preferred
- Up-to-date NURSYS report required with profile
Additional Information
- Provide post-anesthesia recovery care for a wide range of surgical patient populations including cardiac, neuro, ortho, ENT, and vascular cases
- May be assigned to an Emergency Team requiring the traveler to remain onsite until the event concludes or serve as part of a relief team
- Orientation held five days per week
- Scrub color required: royal blue
- Two Manager or Supervisor references required prior to start (Charge RNs not accepted)
- Candidates must reside more than 65 miles from the facility to be considered
- Requested RTO must be listed on profile and discussed during interview
- Previous permanent or in-house agency staff must have a one-year separation from the health system before returning as a travel employee
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
