Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a general Emergency Department requiring CA RN licensure, 1:4 patient ratios, and Epic experience.

Details

• Work in a General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric patients
• Non-trauma emergency department setting at a stroke-certified facility
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Variable shift schedule including evenings and nights (3x12 hours), covering 1p-1a, 4p-4a, and 7p-7a shifts
• Required to work every other weekend
• Charts using Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• Minimum 3 years of ER RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in triage and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience managing trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, arterial line management, central line care, and blood product administration
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients
• Skilled in interpretation of ABGs
• Experience administering continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation
• Experience treating conditions such as abdominal pain, asthma, burns, head injury, seizures, CVA, and spinal cord injury
• Ability to identify and report neglect or abuse
• 2 references from supervisors obtained within the past year required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across a wide range of pediatric and adult conditions including respiratory infections, sickle cell crisis, mental/behavioral health conditions, and poison ingestion
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius to be eligible for the local rate
• Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day, with only 1 holiday RTO request approved per contract
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
• Must complete lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
• Former employees must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible to return as a traveler
• First-time travelers may be considered if they have a solid 3 years of ED RN experience
