Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ER RN for a night shift acute care position requiring Cerner EMR experience and a CA RN license.
Details
- Acute care Emergency Department with 33 total patient care rooms, 25 equipped with cardiac monitors
- Triage area with 2 bays staffed by midlevels, RNs, and LVNs
- Patient ratio of 1:4 with an average census of 210 patients
- Cerner EMR experience preferred; recent experience should be noted
- Charge nurse coverage 24/7
- ER Techs (EMT, MA, or CNA background) assist with tech duties and EKGs
- GE telemetry with central monitor stations at both nursing stations
- RT and pharmacy coverage available 24/7, with Omnicell system in use
- No IV team; ventilator management per RT
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a
- 2 weekends required per 4-week schedule
- Holiday coverage required for 2 out of 3 holidays
- No floating outside of the ER
- Up to 6 shifts of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Strong, thorough documentation skills required
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Provide emergency care for a wide range of patients, including routine ER cases, STEMIs, hemorrhagic strokes, and pediatric patients
- Facility is Stroke Certified and serves as the base hospital for local EMS
- Adheres to EMTALA regulations, requiring stabilization and treatment of all patients regardless of insurance or ability to pay
- May be required to board patients and manage ER holds during high-volume periods
- Navy blue scrubs required; any undershirt beneath the scrub top must be navy, white, or black
- No floating outside of the ER department
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Candidates with prior direct employment (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity Health, within the past year are not eligible
