Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele/PCU position requiring cardiac telemetry skills and prior PCU experience.
Details
- Acute care Level 2 trauma Med/Tele/PCU unit with 32 beds
- Nurse:patient ratios of 1:4-5, occasionally 5-6 on nights, with PCU overflow at 1:3
- Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with cardiac caths, EP studies, pacers, ETOH, COVID, pneumonia, sepsis, and acute-on-chronic conditions
- RNs required to titrate drips including Amio, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, and low dose Dopamine
- Charge nurse present on every shift, occasionally taking a light patient load
- Nurse aides/patient care techs on unit at a 1:10 ratio goal
- RNs responsible for reading and interpreting their own telemetry strips
- RT equipment on unit includes BiPap, trachs, and AirVo, with RNs troubleshooting as needed
- 12-hour shifts, 7a-7p and 7p-7a, with rotating schedules occurring no more than weekly
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Floating required to all areas including PCU and Med/Surg with full patient assignments, and occasional ER holds/boarding
- EPIC EMR used, experience preferred but not required
Requirements
- Active RN license (ND state or Compact) required, pending licenses not accepted
- BLS and ACLS certifications required, active only
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- PCU experience required with ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
- BSN not required for this position
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on a tele/cardiac focused stepdown unit
- Any color scrubs permitted
- Unit-specific orientation consists of two 12-hour shifts
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront per 13-week contract, with no additional RTO approved after submission
