Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Trauma ICU RN with a required Oregon RN license, recent Epic experience, and at least 2 years of ICU experience for a Level II Trauma Center.

Details

  • Trauma ICU unit within a Level II Trauma Center, 385-bed short-term acute care facility
  • 3x12 day shifts, 1900-0730
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Cares for a wide range of ICU populations including medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma patients
  • Common diagnoses include GIB, ETOH withdrawal, DKA, sepsis, COVID, ARDS, CHF, CKD, AKI, MSOF, CVA, and ICH
  • Performs procedures such as chest tube insertion, central line/PICC placement, bedside tracheostomy, intubation, and post-cardiac arrest cooling catheter placement
  • Uses equipment including PA catheters, Impella devices, ventilators, CRRT, IABP, Zoll cooling catheters, and Arctic Sun pads
  • Requires flexibility for weekend scheduling based on unit needs
  • No on-call requirement
  • Floats between CVICU and NTICU, as well as Telemetry, Acute Care, Observation, and ED boarding with 4-hour orientation for floating
  • May occasionally float to University District campus

Requirements

  • Active Oregon RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required prior to start
  • CCRN, CSC, SCRN, TCRN, TNCC, and TCAR certifications preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required; 1.5 years may be considered for candidates with similar ICU background
  • Recent Epic EMR experience required
  • Previous trauma ICU experience required
  • Skilled in arterial line management, central line and PICC care, blood product administration, and IV therapy
  • Experience managing ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula
  • Proficient in interpreting ABGs and managing dysrhythmias
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, and emergency medication administration
  • Experience with CRRT, renal failure management, and IV insulin protocols
  • Experience with hypothermia protocols and Arctic Sun cooling systems
  • Skilled in chest tube insertion/removal and surgical wound care with drains or wound vac
  • Prior travel nursing experience with 2-3 completed assignments preferred
  • Proof of Oregon license application required if license is not yet in hand

Additional Information

  • Provides critical care nursing to a diverse ICU population including trauma, cardiac, and neuro patients
  • Assists with codes, massive transfusion protocols, and serves as backup for the Hospital Cardiac Arrest Team
  • Participates in post-cardiac arrest cooling and femoral/radial sheath removal
  • No dress code color requirement for scrubs
  • Free parking available onsite
  • First-time travelers will not be considered; experienced travelers preferred
  • Local candidates are not accepted; must reside more than 60 miles from the facility
  • Previous PeaceHealth employees must have been separated from the health system for at least one year before returning as a traveler
  • Fully vaccinated status must be disclosed for consideration
  • Start date may be delayed up to 8 weeks if Oregon licensure is still in process
