Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Tele Float Pool RN with 2+ years of MS-Tele experience for a Denver-area night shift float position requiring a CO or compact license.

Details

• Acute care setting floating within Denver Zone 3, including OrthoColorado Hospital, Longmont United Hospital, St. Anthony Hospital, and St. Anthony North Hospital
• No home base facility; assignment requires floating throughout the entire zone
• Float pool covers multiple units including General MS-Tele, Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Obs
• Adult and geriatric patient population with diagnoses spanning cardiac, neuro, ortho, oncology, renal, urology post-surgical, general surgery post-appy, gynecology, psych/detox, ENT, and general medicine
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6 based on acuity
• May float into other acuity levels including ICU (low acuity holds) and PCU/Stepdown
• RNs are required to titrate Heparin drips
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) on a 6-week schedule
• 6-9 weekend shifts required within each 6-week schedule
• May be required to participate in holiday rotation
• Rare call/standby requirement for low census situations
• Uses EPIC EMR system
• Schedules released 4-6 weeks in advance, either single-facility for the week or Just-In-Time (JIT) assignment 1-2 hours before shift start

Requirements

• Active CO or Compact (NLC) RN license required, active at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of MS-Tele nursing experience required
• Prior neuro experience preferred
• BSN not required for this position
• Must be able to float across multiple acuity levels and units as needed

Additional Information

• Designated Charge Nurse on each unit who typically does not take a patient assignment unless necessary; night shift charge nurses may occasionally take a small patient assignment
• Nurse aides and respiratory therapy equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP) available on units
• Any scrub color permitted
• Unit-specific orientation consists of 1-2 days with a preceptor
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the Denver city center to qualify for the travel position
• Housing must accommodate the requirement to float throughout the full 60-mile zone regardless of location chosen
• Candidates must be in-state for the week of orientation, even if initial modules are completed remotely
• Time off requests must be submitted prior to the start of the assignment
• No more than 3 missed shifts allowed during the 13-week contract
• Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year are not eligible; PRN employment through outside staffing firms will be considered
