Description
American Traveler is hiring a Chemo-Certified RN for a Pediatric Oncology position at a teaching hospital requiring PALS, APHON, and ONS/ONCC chemo certification.
Details
- Pediatric Oncology and BMT unit at a teaching hospital
- Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- 13-week assignment with bi-weekly orientation
- Required to work every other weekend
- Cares for pediatric oncology and bone marrow transplant patients
Requirements
- Active NC or Compact RN license required in hand
- Minimum 1 year of pediatric oncology experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, PALS, Chemo (ONS/ONCC), and APHON
- Experience with chemotherapy administration, port access/management, and central line care required
- Skilled in recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies (ATLS, anaphylaxis, sepsis, hemorrhage)
- Experience with biotherapy, bone marrow transplant care, and symptom management required
- Knowledge of neutropenic precautions and isolation/PPE protocols required
- 1 supervisory reference from within the last year required for consideration
- Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to pediatric oncology and BMT patients including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
- Administer blood products, coagulation factors, antifungals, antivirals, and other specialized medications
- Manage pain control including IV push narcotics and PCA pumps
- Collaborate with the pediatric care team and provide patient/family education and psychosocial support
- Flu vaccine required October 31 - March 31 with no exemptions
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Previous permanent employment at this health system must be disclosed and must not have occurred within the past 6 months
- RTO must be limited to 5-7 days maximum
- Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius at a reduced rate
