Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring WA or compact RN licensure and BLS certification.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg unit with 28 beds
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4-5
• General medical patient population including sepsis, COPD, bowel obstructions, and CHF
• CNA support at a ratio of 1 CNA to 10-14 patients
• No dedicated tele/monitor techs on unit; tele monitored remotely via centralized team, reachable through Ascom app
• RT equipment includes CPAP and established BiPAP devices
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Day shift schedule, 0600-1830
• Weekend and holiday coverage required
• Floating required, with priority given to the primary facility before floating to other Region I facilities (St. Anne Hospital - Burien, WA and Virginia Mason Medical Center - Seattle, WA)
• No charge nurse or house supervisor taking patient assignments

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred
• 2+ years of related Med/Surg experience preferred
• Must be able to titrate insulin and heparin drips
• Ability to read telemetry strips preferred
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to general medical patients on a busy Med/Surg unit
• May be floated to other facilities within the region when not needed on the primary unit
• Unit and department-specific orientation provided
• Professional colored scrubs permitted
• First-time travelers may be considered for this role
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and Dignity Health, within the past year
