Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Special Care Nursery position requiring prior NICU or Level 2 SCN experience and an active NH or compact RN license.
Details
- Special Care Nursery integrated with an 18-bed LDRP labor and delivery unit
- Unit staffs 8-9 RNs per shift, with 2 trained specifically for the special care nursery
- SCN cares for neonates 32 weeks gestation and above, including grower feeders
- 6 SCN beds with an average census of 2-5 neonates
- RNs attend vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections in the OR
- Surfactant administration via LMA performed for appropriate candidates
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p-730a, 3 shifts per week
- Floating to postpartum or pediatrics possible if comfortable, though not typical for travelers
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active RN license (NH or Compact) required, must be in hand at time of consideration
- 3-4 years of nursing experience required
- At least 2 years of NICU or Level 2 Special Care Nursery experience required
- Postpartum experience preferred but not required
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- Comfortable assisting in deliveries and starting neonate IVs
- 3 professional references required once committed, with at least 2 from leadership
Additional Information
- Assist with deliveries and provide specialized nursing care to neonates in the SCN
- Weekly orientation provided
- Previous perm staff may return as travelers after a 12-month break in service
- Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius to qualify for the travel rate; local candidates are also accepted
