Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg-Ortho unit requiring 2+ years of experience and Total Joint Replacement expertise.
Details
- Level 1 trauma acute care hospital setting on the 7NE Med/Surg-Ortho unit
- 22-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6
- Patient population includes joint replacements and orthopedic fractures
- Telemetry monitoring present on the unit, but RNs are not required to read strips
- No drip titration responsibilities required
- Charge Nurse coverage available 24/7, with 3 CNAs per shift at a 1:7-8 ratio
- Respiratory therapy equipment (CPAP, BiPAP, high flow) used as needed
- Night shift schedule with every-other-weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule required
- Holiday rotation required as part of the assignment
- Floating required to 7E, 7W, 10W, and 10E as needed
- Uses EPIC EMR
Requirements
- Active WV or Compact RN license required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Total Joint Replacement experience required (fracture-only experience not sufficient)
- Strong orthopedic nursing background required
- BSN not required
- Unexpired driver's license copy required for consideration
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required, with medical or religious exemption forms available if applicable
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to orthopedic patients including joint replacement and fracture cases
- 1-2 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
- Royal blue scrubs required per dress code
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to qualify for travel rate
- Previous permanent staff or travelers at this health system must have a 2-year break before reapplying
- Travelers are limited to a cumulative 1-year work period within the WVU system before requiring a 2-year break
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
