Description
American Traveler is hiring a Nights RN for an Ortho/Tele Med-Surg unit requiring 2 years of experience and Total Joint Replacement expertise at a Level 1 trauma facility.
Details
- Acute care setting on a 22-bed Ortho/Tele Med-Surg unit
- Patient ratios of 1:5-6 with CNA support at 1:7-8 ratios and 3 CNAs per shift
- Common diagnoses include joint replacements and fractures
- Tele monitoring present on unit, though RNs are not required to read strips
- RNs are not required to titrate drips
- Respiratory therapy equipment (CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow) used as needed
- Charge Nurse coverage available 24/7
- EPIC EMR used
- Night shift schedule, 7p-7:30a, 36 hours per week
- Rotating weekends required (every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule)
- Holiday rotation required
- Possible floating to 7E, 7W, 10W, and 10E units
- 1-2 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
Requirements
- Active WV or Compact RN license required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Total Joint Replacement experience required, not limited to fracture care
- Strong orthopedic nursing background required
- BSN not required for this position
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved medical/religious exemption
- Unexpired driver's license copy required for consideration
Additional Information
- Care for orthopedic patients including joint replacements and fractures within a Level 1 trauma center
- Royal blue scrubs required per unit dress code
- Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to be eligible
- Previous permanent staff must wait 2 years before returning as travelers
- Previous travelers who completed a full year at this facility must wait 2 years before returning
- Cumulative traveler assignments within the WVU system cannot exceed 1 year before requiring a 2-year break
- Candidates can only be submitted to one WVU facility at a time
- All candidates interview directly with the hiring manager
