Description

American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry/PCU RN with critical care experience for a 13-week night shift contract requiring strong critical thinking and independent clinical skills.

Details

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting
• 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0730, three shifts per week
• Patient ratios of 3:1 or 4:1 for Open-Heart Day 2/Day 3 patients with pacer wires
• Uses BiPAP, chest tubes, PICC lines, and performs own lab draws
• Functions without a vascular access team, managing own consults and codes
• EMR used is Epic
• Floating required to ICU and all inpatient units including Med/Surg, Med/Tele, Acute/Tele, and ED based on prior experience
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active KS RN or Compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Critical Care/ICU or Emergency Department experience required
• Strong critical thinking skills required
• Experience with BiPAP, chest tubes, PICC lines, and independent lab draws required
• Comfortable conducting own codes and consults without a vascular access team
• Open-heart Day 2 or Day 3 experience with pacer wires required
• CBC, drug screen, and lab work must be completed within 72 hours of offer acceptance

• Provide critical care-level nursing support within a progressive care setting
• Facility is nicotine-free
• Orientation includes multiple days at KUKC campus and Olathe campus, plus Director of Nursing training and virtual Epic training
• Must work one holiday from each of three holiday groups: Thanksgiving Day or Black Friday, Christmas Eve or Day, and New Year's Eve or Day
• Local and travel candidates accepted at the same bill rate
