Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring NY licensure and Epic EMR experience.

Details

• 37-bed Med/Surg Tele unit at a hospital
• Patient population primarily elderly with respiratory, cardiac, GI, and neuro conditions, with potential ortho overflow
• Staffing ratio of 1:9 on all shifts
• Uses a Care Delivery Model with teams of 1 RN, 1 LPN, and 1 PCT for up to 9 patients, including modified teams when needed
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts per month
• Floating required to other med/surg units
• No on-call requirements specified

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required in hand
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry (on-unit and remote)
• Experience managing cardiac drips (no titration) and PCA
• Skills in wound care, isolation precautions/PPE, and pacemaker management

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a team-based nursing model on a busy med/surg telemetry unit
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be considered for the travel position
• Returning staff must wait 6 months system-wide before reapplying
• Candidates with more than 10 days of requested RTO will not be considered
• Scrub colors limited to navy blue and white, or a combination of the two
