Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring 2+ years of critical care experience and a NE or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care Level II Trauma ICU with 33 beds and an average daily census of 16
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3 for adult critical care patients
• Patient population includes trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress cases
• RNs required to titrate drips including cardiac, insulin, and sedation medications
• Respiratory equipment ranges from nasal cannula to ventilators; RNs troubleshoot as needed
• Cardiac monitoring/telemetry required, including strip interpretation and documentation with tele tech oversight
• Nurse aides and a Healthcare Support tech (M-F, 0800-1630) provide support based on census
• 12-hour day shifts (0630-1830) with self-scheduling for core staff; block scheduling not guaranteed for travelers
• Every other weekend required (Saturday/Sunday)
• Floating required, typically to PCU and occasionally MedSurg at a 1:4 or 1:5 ratio
• Minimum of 2 holidays required within the contract timeframe
• EPIC EMR used
• One shift of unit-specific orientation provided

Requirements

• Active RN license (Nebraska or Compact/NLC) required, pending licenses not accepted
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required and must be active, not pending
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• BSN not required
• Must be able to titrate cardiac, insulin, and sedation drips
• Experience reading, interpreting, and documenting telemetry strips required
• Driver's license copy required at submission for radius verification
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, verified via driver's license
• Candidates may not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
• RNs complete a pass/fail open-book exam during orientation on Wednesdays, requiring a 90% score to pass
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove will result in contract termination
• If placed on call, RNs must be able to arrive within 30 minutes of being called back
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront for the 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
