Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN Case Manager with a CA license and case management/utilization review background for a hospital assignment.

Details

  • Case Management department within an acute hospital setting
  • Coordinates utilization management, resource management, discharge planning, post-acute care referrals, and care facilitation
  • Manages acute patient populations across the care continuum to prevent unnecessary admissions or readmissions
  • Provides discharge planning coordination for high-risk patients presenting to the Emergency Department
  • Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Minimum of 2 weekend shifts required per month
  • If floated, assignment will remain within Case Management

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required
  • BLS certification required (AHA or ARC)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Minimum 1 year of charge nurse experience required
  • Patient ratio experience of 1:20 or more
  • Travel experience required
  • Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
  • Experience with InterQual Criteria and Milliman Guidelines preferred
  • Knowledge of utilization review processes including admission criteria, appeals and denials, concurrent review, continued stay reviews, medical necessity, and retrospective review
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards such as CMS, HIPAA, ICD-10, DRG, HEDIS, NCQA, OSHA, and Joint Commission guidelines preferred
  • Two supervisor references obtained within the past year required
  • Copies of all certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Focuses on promoting patient wellness, improved care outcomes, efficient utilization of health services, and minimized payment denials for patients with complex health needs
  • Must reside within a 50-mile radius to be eligible for the local rate
  • Local candidates accepted at the local rate
  • Returning staff must have a minimum 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
  • Only 1 holiday request approved per contract
  • Holiday coverage includes New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
  • Must be available for lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
  • 7-year work history verification required for all candidates
