Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN with 2+ years of experience and a strong respiratory skill set for a 24-bed unit emphasizing respiratory care.

Details

• 24-bed Medical Surgical unit with an emphasis on respiratory care
• MS/Tele and Telemetry work setting
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• 3x12 hour day shifts, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM, 36 hours per week
• Epic charting system used
• Floating to like units within scope required as needed, with brief orientation provided

Requirements

• Active OK or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required, teaching hospital experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, central/peripheral/PICC line care, and blood product administration
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response/code team involvement
• Wound care/wound vac and IV insulin protocol experience
• Feeding tube care, PCA, and Heparin protocol experience

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to a medically complex population with a focus on respiratory conditions
• First time travelers accepted for this unit
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be considered for the travel position
• Former permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
