Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN Case Manager for an acute care hospital setting requiring prior discharge planning and case management experience.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting covering all acute care departments
- Typically remains in the same unit throughout the contract, with floating not usually required
- Patient ratio of 1 case manager to 16-20 patients
- 8-hour day shift schedule, 0800-1630
- 40 hours per week
- Weekend rotation of 2 weekends per 13-week assignment
- No on-call requirements
- EPIC EMR system used
Requirements
- Active RN license (South Dakota or Compact) currently in hand
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1.5 years of general nursing experience
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program
- Previous discharge planning and acute care case management experience required
- Experience with progression of care and family care plan discussions required
Additional Information
- Work alongside Case Management Assistants, Lead Case Managers, Social Workers, Utilization Review RNs, and Hospitalists
- Facility and unit orientation lasts 1.5 weeks, including an EPIC training class
- Holiday coverage required for 2 of 4 major holidays
- Time off requests approved for up to 7 days, with full-week extensions required for longer absences
- No time off approved during the Sturgis Bike Rally (first 2-3 weeks of August)
- Navy blue scrubs or professional attire required
- Free parking available on site
- First-time travelers considered only if they have more than 2 years of experience
- Travelers must reside more than 100 miles from any facility location
- Permanent staff must wait a full year before returning as a traveler
