Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry unit requiring 1+ years of recent acute med/surg experience and a TX or compact RN license.

Details

• Work on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit with 8 inpatient beds plus 8 admission unit beds, occasionally flexing up to 12 beds depending on census
• Staffing typically includes 1 charge nurse, 2 RNs, and 1 PCA per shift
• Maximum patient ratio of 6:1
• Standard nursing equipment used on the unit
• Meditech EMR system in use
• 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM over a 13-week assignment
• Rotating weekend schedule as needed for travel RNs
• Floating required to other Med/Surg units

Requirements

• Active RN license (TX or compact)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute med/surg experience within the last year
• Ability to care for 4-6 patients at a time
• Experience with IV insertions, urinary catheter insertion/maintenance, central line maintenance, medication administration, and EHR documentation
• Ortho or neuro-surgery background preferred, Med/Surg/Telemetry experience also acceptable
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for a Med/Surg patient population including standard nursing procedures and documentation
• Collaborate with a care team including charge nurses, RNs, and PCAs
• Scrub attire required per unit dress code
• Friendly, positive, patient-centered, and team-focused personality preferred
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates will not be considered
