Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 5 years of experience and WI or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Level III Trauma Center with Level II NICU and Primary Stroke Center designation
- Womens Health and OB Services unit with 13 beds (12 L&D, 1 Triage, 1 OR)
- Patient population includes antepartum, postpartum, L&D, and gynecological post-op patients (hysterectomies and D&Cs), 20 weeks gestation and up
- Patient ratios of 1:2 laboring, 1:1 active labor, and 1:3 couplets
- 12-hour night shift schedule (7p-7a), 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- No floating required
- Support staff includes CNAs (1:13), OB techs who scrub for C-sections, charge nurse with light assignment, phlebotomy/RN for blood draws, on-call OB-GYN and midwife at night, and 24/7 OB-CRNA coverage on weekends
- Unit secretary available 0800-1400
- Uses Epic, Alaris, Pyxis, Milktraker, and CPN charting/equipment systems
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required
- BLS, NRP, and FHM certifications required
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required
- Minimum 12 months of core experience in the specialty unit, with most recent experience within the last year
- Experience with antepartum, postpartum, L&D, and gynecological surgical patients required
- Skills required include circulating C-sections and recovering mother and infant
- Epic EMR experience required
- At least one professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required
- Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 of SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include providing direct patient care for laboring, postpartum, and gynecological surgical patients, circulating C-sections, and recovering mother and infant
- FHM monitoring available at both the nurse's station and bedside
- Orientation includes at least one shift on the unit to learn workflow
- Holiday coverage required for the night before and night after Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
- Manager approval required for RTO requests
- Clinical interviewing required with manager approval
- Scrub color requirement: procedural blues
- Free on-site parking available
- No radius rules apply; local candidates accepted at the same rate
- First-time travelers considered upon review
- Former employees of the health system or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible
