Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced IMC RN for a night shift telemetry position requiring at least 1 year of recent MS/Tele/PCU experience.

Details

• Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) setting within a short-term acute care hospital
• RN to patient ratio of 1:3-4
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30
• 13-week assignment length
• Every other weekend required, but not every weekend
• Uses Epic for charting
• May float within scope to meet facility needs, including to West Valley Hospital
• IMCU serves as overflow for CVCU, caring for post-ablation, post-pacer, and post-angio patients

Requirements

• Active OR RN license required, pending licensure accepted
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience within the last 3 years in MS/Tele/PCU required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skilled in telemetry monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience managing cardiac drips (nitro, Cardizem, amiodarone, Nicardipine, and other IMCU LOC gtts)
• Proficient in O2 protocol and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with peripheral line care and management
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use
• Comfortable initiating rapid response team activation
• IV start skills required
• Conscious sedation and ventilator management skills preferred

Additional Information

• Care for patients with diagnoses including acute/chronic respiratory failure, sepsis, kidney failure, metabolic encephalopathy, DKA, A-fib, heart failure, GI bleed, NSTEMI, unstable angina, and drug overdose
• Sheath credentialing not required, but familiarity with post-cath care is helpful
• Unit has received the Gold Beacon Award from AACN
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support holistic patient care throughout hospital stay
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Local candidates accepted
• First-time travelers not accepted
• Requests for time off exceeding 2 weeks require approval and must be finalized prior to consideration
• Former Salem Health employees must wait six months from termination date before being eligible for travel assignments
• Block scheduling is not accommodated
• Required training modules (up to 8 hours) completed prior to start and annually thereafter
