Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring NY licensure and 2 years of med/surg tele experience.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit with 37 beds
• Staffing ratio of 1:9 on all shifts
• Patient population is primarily elderly with respiratory, cardiac, GI, and neuro diagnoses, with potential ortho overflow patients
• Unit uses a team-based care delivery model with 1 RN, 1 LPN, and 1 PCT covering up to 9 patients, with modified teams used when full teams aren't available
• Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Weekend coverage required either every other weekend or 4 shifts per month
• Floating required to other med/surg units

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required in hand
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, cardiac monitoring, and respiratory management (BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, oxygen administration)

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a team nursing model for a med/surg telemetry population
• Navy blue and white scrubs required, in any combination of those colors
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be considered
• Candidates with more than 10 days of requested RTO will not be considered
• Returning staff must have a 6-month system-wide break in service before reapplying
