Description
American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric ICU RN for a float pool role requiring 2 years of Peds ICU experience and SC or Compact RN licensure.
Details
- Pediatric Critical Care float pool position within the PICU
- Float pool RN will work across all pediatric units in the children's hospital, including CVPICU, NICU, and PICU
- Day shift schedule of 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM, 36 hours/week
- Patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:3
- Required to work every other weekend and rotate holidays
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active South Carolina or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
- BLS and PALS certification required (AHA only accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric ICU experience required
- ECMO and CRRT experience preferred
- Skilled in emergency/anti-seizure medications, continuous sedation, and IV vasopressors
- Experience with pediatric dosage calculations
- Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator care, acute airway maintenance, and ABG interpretation
- Experience managing chest tubes, central/PICC lines, and IV therapy/phlebotomy
- ICP monitoring experience for neurologic care
- Skilled in interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
- Knowledge of infection control, isolation precautions, and PPE use
- Driver's license and SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients across multiple ICU-level units
- Block scheduling may be accommodated with manager approval based on unit needs
- First-time travelers accepted if they meet the required experience
- Previous permanent or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are considered local
- Local candidates are accepted on a case-by-case basis
- All requested time off must be submitted at the time of consideration for approval based on unit needs
- Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June-November, peak August-September), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
