Description
American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Acute RN for a Level 1 trauma children's hospital, requiring an active IL RN license and 2+ years of experience.
Details
- Work in the Pediatric Acute unit, sharing space with Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, occupying 22 of 32 total beds with expansion capability based on census
- Care for a medical/surgical pediatric population with diagnoses including hyperbilirubinemia, neuro conditions, diabetes, failure to thrive, cystic fibrosis, COVID, and orthopedic cases
- Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4
- PCTs support the unit at a ratio of 1:8-10
- Charge RN, Pediatric Crisis RN, and administrative supervisor support available 24/7
- Hospitalist coverage in house until approximately midnight with 24/7 resident coverage
- Utilize heated high flow and BiPAP respiratory equipment with specific parameters
- Care for monitored patients with support from a dedicated Pediatric monitor tech
- Uses EPIC EMR
- 12-hour day shifts, 0700-1930
- Every other weekend required (Sat/Sun for day shift)
- Holiday coverage required unless otherwise approved during interview
- Floating required within the children's hospital, including to Mom/Baby for baby assignments; no floating to ICUs unless experienced, and no chemo patients
- No mandatory call or standby requirement at this time
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required
- BLS (AHA) and PALS (AHA) certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Level 1 trauma center experience
- EPIC EMR experience
Additional Information
- Provide direct nursing care to pediatric acute patients including medical/surgical cases
- Unit-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts, with potential extension based on management and educator approval
- Scrub tops may be any color or pattern as long as pediatric-appropriate and non-revealing; scrub pants must be a solid, non-revealing color
- OSF is a Drug-Free Campus and requires a negative drug screen for all panels
- COVID vaccination is not required for this facility
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for a reduced local rate
