Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN with prior Charge RN and travel experience for a night shift position requiring compact or NC RN licensure.

Details

• 29-bed Med/Surg unit caring for adult through geriatric patients, including orthopedic and surgical cases
• Telemetry monitoring available on the unit
• On-unit physical therapy gym allows patients to receive therapy without leaving the floor
• High-volume patient populations include total joint replacements, fracture repairs, and kyphoplasties
• Moderate-volume patient populations include other surgical procedures and inpatient/24-hour observation medical patients
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required as needed, including to any Cone Health campus
• RNs will be required to work Charge RN shifts as needed
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, must be in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Previous Charge RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs
• Experience with central line blood draws
• Skilled in interpretation of dysrhythmias and telemetry remote monitoring
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management
• Experience with continuous bladder irrigation and renal failure/pre-post hemodialysis management
• Experience with nasal cannula, oxygen tanks, and BiPAP/CPAP management
• Experience administering Heparin
• Current driver's license required to verify address
• Third-party education verification required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across a mixed population of orthopedic, surgical, and medical patients
• Unit staffed with a mixture of RNs and LPNs
• Charge nurses on this unit carry a patient load due to the fast-paced environment
• Schedules are built every six weeks based on unit demands with set weekend schedules only
• All RNs must pass a compliance EKG exam with up to two attempts allowed
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as no local rates apply
• RTO requests must be submitted with the initial application; no post-submission RTO requests accepted
