Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Long Term Care position on nights, requiring 2 years of skilled nursing experience and PointClickCare proficiency.

Details

• Long term care/skilled nursing facility setting with a geriatric patient population
• Low acuity unit with average daily census of 36 and 40 beds
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, 36 hours per week
• 13-week contract length
• Patient ratio of 1:20, with staffing ratio of 1:40 including weekends
• Every other weekend required
• No call requirement
• No floating requirement
• Two nurses on unit from 7 PM to 11 PM, dropping to one nurse overnight, supported by 2 CNAs and on-call MD after hours
• Documentation via PointClickCare with SBAR communication

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license (pending accepted at submission)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• LTAC experience required
• PointClickCare charting experience required
• Skilled nursing facility experience required in lieu of travel experience for first-time travelers
• Experience with wound care, ostomy/feeding tube management, foley catheter insertion, diabetes management, and medication administration (oral, IM, SQ, IV)
• Experience with neurological assessment and seizure precautions
• Experience with respiratory care including oxygen administration and pulse oximetry monitoring
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years (pending accepted at submission)

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to a geriatric long-term care population with generally low acuity
• 24-hour unit orientation with a week of hospital orientation including daily classes
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Pre-start modules required (approximately 4-5 hours for non-acute roles), completed online and annually
• First-time travelers welcome to apply if they have skilled nursing facility experience
• Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of the facility
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying and disclose prior employment details for facility approval
• Current travel or per diem clinicians at the facility must choose between per diem or travel status, not both
• Up to 7 days of RTO auto-approved if not on a holiday, with no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Travel pairs allowed if on different units, with separate transportation and schedules
