Description

American Traveler is hiring a Level 2 NICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2 years of NICU experience and NRP certification.

Details

  • Level 2 NICU/Nursery unit with 6 beds in an acute care hospital setting
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1 to 1:3 babies
  • Cares for newborns with hypoglycemia, IV antibiotics, mild respiratory distress, and those requiring phototherapy
  • Cares for pre-term babies learning to bottle feed and gain weight, including infants withdrawing from maternal drug use
  • Attends C-Section and vaginal deliveries to provide care for the baby
  • May be asked to care for stable post-partum mothers and babies, with training provided if needed
  • Uses EPIC EMR
  • 12-hour night shifts on a 7-7 schedule, with scheduling set by leadership in 6-week blocks
  • 6-9 weekend shifts required within a 6-week schedule
  • May float to a facility 26 miles away during low census or as needed
  • Rare on-call/standby requirement for low census situations
  • 36 hours per week

Requirements

  • Active CO or Compact RN license required
  • BLS (AHA) and NRP certifications required
  • Minimum of 2 years of NICU experience required
  • Prior travel experience preferred
  • Must be willing to learn postpartum mother and baby care if not already experienced
  • Driver's license copy required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Works alongside a minimum of two RNs or an RN and tech per shift in an LDRP model unit
  • Staffing is based on patient acuity for safe care delivery
  • Unit includes NICU and/or LD charge RN roles
  • 1-3 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided with a preceptor
  • May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
  • Blue hospital scrubs provided
  • Time off requests must be submitted prior to starting the assignment
  • Travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill scheduling gaps
  • Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility
