Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Stepdown RN for a day shift assignment requiring ventilator management experience and BLS/PALS certification.

Details

• Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit (PIMC) at a children's hospital setting
• Provides intermediate level care for medical/surgical patients ages 0-18, excluding obstetric patients
• Patient population includes non-ICU neurosurgical, video EEG/spectrum scan, peritoneal dialysis, chronic trach/ventilated, select hyperbilirubinemia, select cardiac surgery, and complex post-op cases (orthopedic spine, crani, bladder augmentation)
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:00
• Uses Epic EMR system
• May float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals per unit needs

Requirements

• Active RN license (Oregon or Compact) required
• OR RN license required for consideration
• Active BLS and PALS certification required (AHA Traditional; RQI not accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of pediatric nursing experience required
• Ventilator management experience required
• Epic EMR charting experience required
• Charge RN experience preferred, with willingness to charge on some shifts if needed
• EVD or peritoneal dialysis experience preferred
• ICP monitoring skills preferred
• Not ideal for new graduate nurses

Additional Information

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to pediatric patients and families in accordance with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act and ANA standards
• Care includes neurological monitoring, tracheostomy care, and ventilator management
• Floating to affiliate hospitals may be required; refusal to float may result in contract cancellation
• COVID vaccination proof required with no exemptions accepted
• RTO requests must be submitted upfront and limited to no more than 2 weeks
• Former OHSU employees or previous OHSU travelers must be gone at least 6 months before returning
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
• First-time travelers may be considered based on experience requirements
