Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Interventional Radiology position requiring ICU-level skills and moderate sedation experience in a Level II Trauma Center setting.
Details
- Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Primary Stroke Center hospital setting
- 7 pre/post bays and 2 procedural suites within the Interventional Radiology unit
- Outpatient and inpatient procedures including biopsies, UFEs, kyphoplasties, port placements, diagnostic angiograms, interventional arterial and venous procedures, IVC placement, venous and neurological thrombectomies, coilings, aneurysm rupture repair, paracentesis, and thoracentesis
- Patient ratios of 1:1 in procedure rooms and up to 1:3 in pre/post area
- Uses Cerner EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors
- Unit operates routine procedures Monday-Friday 6:30A-4:30P with 24/7 availability for emergencies
- Shift options include four 10-hour shifts (6:30A-4:30P) with rotating day off or three 12-hour shifts with rotating days off
- On-call typically required every 4th weekend and one night during the week, staffing dependent
- Floating limited to other procedural areas such as cath lab pre/post when skillset applies
Requirements
- Active RN license (AL or compact) required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Skills required in ICU care, moderate sedation, arterial line management, medication titration, and chest tube care
- Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience accepted
- First-time travelers considered with at least 2 years of experience
Additional Information
- Support on the unit provided by a charge nurse
- Orientation includes 2 shifts on the unit and 1-2 shifts in education/onboarding
- Holiday coverage required equally between core and travel staff, including 1 winter holiday (Christmas, Thanksgiving, or New Year's) and 1 summer holiday (July 4th, Memorial Day, or Labor Day)
- Time off requests approved by the manager
- Scrubs may be any color, with green scrubs provided when in procedures
- Parking available in assigned hospital areas or parking deck
- Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
- Former permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered as a traveler
