Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift surgical unit position requiring 2+ years of experience and an active NC or compact RN license.

Details

• MS/Tele unit caring for surgical patients including colorectal, general surgery, hepatobiliary, and orthopedics/spine cases
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15
• 36 or 48 hour weekly options available
• Every other weekend requirement
• Occasional floating required
• Self-scheduling based on unit needs with nurse manager input
• Uses Pyxis, SBAR, and Epic charting systems

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required (pending license acceptable at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with post-surgical unit experience preferred
• BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• IV therapy/phlebotomy and telemetry skills required
• Experience with central line care, PICC line management, and peripheral line care preferred
• Chest tube (Emerson/PleurEvac) and epidural analgesia experience preferred
• Wound care/wound vac and IV insulin protocol experience helpful
• Ortho trauma and renal failure/dialysis management experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for a post-surgical population including GI, ortho, and renal cases
• Participate in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response/code team activation
• 36-hour unit orientation provided
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Navy blue or white scrubs required (not provided)
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Up to 7 days of RTO auto-approved (excluding holidays); no RTO allowed during first week of assignment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of the facility
• Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees must wait 12 months before reapplying, with facility approval required
