Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a fast-paced, mixed ICU unit requiring at least one prior travel assignment and TNCC certification.

Details

• Work in a 39-bed mixed ICU unit divided into pods covering MICU, SICU, CICU, and TICU
• Care for complex ICU patients including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases
• Common diagnoses include ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, post-cardiac cath, post-surgical, and multiple system trauma
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3 depending on acuity
• Cardiac experience preferred, including CABG/TAVR post-op care
• 12-hour night shifts on a 48 hour/week contract
• Weekend rotation attempted for every other weekend, though not guaranteed
• No on-call requirements
• Floating is uncommon but may occur to adult floors including Medsurg/Tele at a 1:4 ratio
• Uses Epic charting system, Alaris pumps (transitioning to Baxter), and Omnicell

Requirements

• Active RN license (SD or Compact) required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• TNCC certification required or must be willing to obtain prior to arrival
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience preferred, excluding travel experience
• At least one prior travel assignment required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with IV medications including vasopressors, sedation, and paralytics
• Experience with hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, and telemetry
• Impella, IABP, and CRRT experience strongly preferred
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and teamwork skills required
• Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment

Additional Information

• Support staff includes 1-2 CNAs per unit plus a mobility float aide, charge nurses, resource nurses, and 24/7 RT coverage
• 3 intensivists cover days and 2 intensivists plus an APP cover nights
• Phlebotomy team available for peripheral blood draws only
• ICU CRNs place all midlines
• May be expected to precept nursing students
• Navy scrub color required
• Free parking available
• Orientation includes hospital and department orientation, iLearns, and floor shifts
• No RTO permitted during holidays or during the Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks of August)
• Time off requests limited to 7 days and must accommodate a full 13-week contract
• Must reside at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility
• Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers will not be considered
